British Expats in Life Sciences

June 3, 2004 - BELS San Francisco, London Life Sciences Update

Agenda

London Technology Network—Current Life Science Activities in London

As well as the customary opportunity to meet with your fellow Brits in the life sciences, we will hear a presentation from Dr. Jolyon White of the London Technology Network (LTN) that will include a timely overview of the life sciences scene in London and various strengths found in the metropolis.
The LTN is a UK government-funded initiative that aims to improve the profitability and efficiency of business by creating links between industry and London-based academia, particularly in the area of knowledge acquisition. LTN Technology consultants advise how, why and where industry can benefit from a range of mechanisms to link with this rich scientific base.

Jolyon White is a Technology Consultant specializing in life sciences, and works with London University departments in biological sciences, clinical laboratory sciences, life sciences and pharmacology, helping to match expertise with commercial needs for the effective exploitation of knowledge. He has a first degree and PhD in Biochemistry, an MBA from the Open University Business School, and was a Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering at Loughborough University of Technology. For the last 15 years, Jolyon has worked in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, latterly in business development. He is a Member of both the Institute of Biology and the Institute of Food Science and Technology.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU LET US KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE ATTENDING SO WE CAN ENSURE WE ARE PROPERLY CATERED. THESE MEETINGS WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE TO THE BELS COMMUNITY.

Directions to Tied House Café and Brewery

Take the Shoreline Boulevard exit off Route 101 towards Mountain View. After 0.2 miles, turn right onto North Shoreline Boulevard and travel for about 1 mile. Just after crossing Central Expressway this becomes South Shoreline Boulevard; then look to turn left onto Villa Street. #954 is about 0.2 miles down Villa, and there is apparently plenty of free parking available thereabouts.
